Polis Mesir berkas tiga suspek penyerang gereja Koptik

KAHERAH 8 Jan. – Polis hari ini memberkas tiga suspek dalam kejadian tembakan pada sambutan Krismas yang membunuh enam penganut Kristian Koptik dan mengejutkan kumpulan minoriti itu di negara ini.

Pihak berkuasa telah mengepung dan mencari suspek di sebuah ladang tebu di selatan Mesir di mana kumpulan lelaki bersenjata menembak mati enam penganut Kristian yang pulang dari sambutan Krismas dipercayai bersembunyi, lapor media negara hari ini.

“Polis menahan mereka di sebuah ladang tebu.” kata seorang pegawai kepada pemberita.

Agensi berita MENA memetik sumber keselamatan lewat semalam yang mengatakan penemuan kereta yang digunakan dalam kejadian ngeri itu dan mengenal pasti tiga dalang serangan.

Tiga orang lelaki bersenjata melepaskan tembakan ke arah sekumpulan penganut Kristian Koptik yang sedang meninggalkan sebuah gereja di bandar Nag Hamadi, 64 kilometer dari utara kawasan tinggalan sejarah Luxor.

Seorang pengawal beragama Islam turut terbunuh sementara sembilan yang lain cedera dengan tiga daripadanya berada dalam keadaan serius.

Polis telah mengenal pasti dalang serangan sebagai tiga individu yang mempunyai rekod jenayah lampau dan percaya serangan mempunyai kaitan dengan kes rogol seorang gadis Islam oleh lelaki Koptik di perkampungan Farshut berdekatan pada November lalu.

Penduduk Islam bertindak balas terhadap insiden itu dengan membakar kedai milik Koptik dan mengepung balai polis tempat suspek ditahan.

Beribu-ribu penganut Kristian melancarkan protes semalam malah menyerang polis dan ambulans kerana mendakwa komuniti mereka telah didiskriminasi.

Penganut Kristian, kebanyakannya Koptik Ortodoks, meliputi kira-kira 10 peratus daripada 80 juta penduduk Mesir. Mereka meraikan Krismas pada 7 Januari setiap tahun.

Mereka biasanya hidup aman dengan orang Islam walaupun pertempuran dan ketegangan kerap berlaku, terutamanya di selatan Mesir berhubung pertikaian tanah atau perbalahan mengenai pembinaan gereja. – AGENSI
